William Michals, Dee Roscioli to Star in Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival’s Sweeney Todd

Broadway’s William Michals and Dee Roscioli star in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, June13-July 1 on the Main Stage of the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts. Dennis Razze will direct, with musical direction by Vincent Trovato.

The Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler musical Sweeney Todd tells the story of a barber who plots his revenge upon the Judge who falsely convicted him and sent him to a penal colony, destroying his family.

Michals and Roscioli star as Sweeney Todd and his landlord and conspirator Mrs. Lovett respectively and are joined by a cast featuring Christopher Coucill (Judge Turpin), Michelle Sexton (Beggar Woman), Dave Schoonover (Pirelli), Paul Louis Lessard (Jonas Fogg), Evan Harrington (The Beadle), David Garry (the Bird Seller), Katie Wexler (Johanna), and James Stapb (Anthony Hope).

The design team includes Steve TenEyck (set design), Eric T. Haugen (lighting design), Lisa Zinni (costume design), Martha Ruskai (wig and make-up design), and Matthew Given (sound design). Choreography is by Erin Hurley.
