Walnut Street Theatre to Present Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. for Child Audiences

The classic musical will come to Philadelphia.

Walnut Street Theatre will present a weeklong run of Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. from May 29-June 6. The production is aimed at children and families.

Inspired by the Emmy-winning Saturday morning cartoon series, the musical follows Tom, a school teacher nervous about his first day of teaching, whose imagination takes over as characters from Schoolhouse Rock fill his living room to show him how to inspire his students. Classic songs including "Just a Bill," "Unpack Your Adjectives," and "Conjunction Junction!" will be performed.

The cast of Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. includes Langston Darby, Nate Golden, Brandon O’Rourke, Lauren Grajewski, Alanna Smith, and Sarah Biddle. Featured on the creative team are Seth Thomas Schmitt-Hall (scenic designer), Kayla Speedy and Sara Lindsay (costume design), Ryan Peavey (sound design), and J. Dominic Chacon (lighting design).

Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. is directed by by Eric Thompson, with Samuel Antonio Reyes serving as choreographer. It features a book by Scott Ferguson, Kyle Hall, and George Keating, and music and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Kathy Mandry, George Newall, and Tom Yohe.
