People’s Light & Theatre Company Announces Casting for David Wiltse’s Hatchetman

People’s Light & Theatre Company has announced casting for its production of Hatchetman by David Wiltse,to run June 15-July 17. Steve Umberger will direct.

Hatchetman is a six-character comedy set in the offices of Putts, a golf magazine headed for corporate takeover. The incompetent editorial staff, fearful of change and, most of all, of the dreaded “hatchetman,” descends into near hysteria, and office politics shift into high gear. The play will be presented as part of People’s Light’s The Scoop: History, Context, and Gossip program, which features a lively discussion before every performance.

The cast will include Artistic Associate Mary Elizabeth Scallen, who will be playing Sam as well as leading the pre-show discussion about the world of the play, how and why it was chosen, and how it was cast, designed, and rehearsed. Also appearing will be Andrew Kane as Johnson, Mary McCool as Temple, Pete Pryor as Carter, Mary Elizabeth Scallen as Sam, Julia Stroup as Jane, and Tom Teti as Otis.
