Mel Sagrado Maghuyop, Rachel York, et al. Set for Walnut Street Theatre’s The King and I

Walnut Street Theatre has announced casting for Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s The King and I, to run November 8 – January 8. Marc Robin will direct and choreograph the production.

The musical centers on the meeting of East and West when the King of Siam welcomes Anna, an Englishwoman, to his court to tutor his children.

The company will feature Rachel York (Anna) and Mel Sagrado Maghuyop (King of Siam), along with Rei Akazawa, Alan Ariano, Angelica-Lee Aspiras, Andrew Cheng, Jeffrey Coon, Nina Crupiti, Julian Marcus DeGuzmán, Janelle Dote, Adam Michael Kaokept, Austin Ku, LaMae, Paul HeeSang Miller, JP Moraga, Manna Nichols, Yumiko Niimi, Rommel Pierre O’Choa, Rumi Oyama, Jee Teo, Greg Wood, and Minami Yusui.

The children’s ensemble headed by Noah Breymeier as Prince Chulalongkorn and Conrad Sager as Louis, along with Guiliana Alleva, Marielle Barstow, Ian Bulack, Jessica Halili, Rachel Li Jordan, Aidan Killion, Jade Killion, Anna Kralik, Alyrica Lackey, Johanna Lackey, Lael Lackey, Bella Le, Mackenzie Lee, Jenna Purviance, Samantha Sam, Phoebe Fitzmaurice Shean, and Clarisse Surja.

The creative team will be comprised of scenic designer Robert Andrew Kovach, lighting designer Paul Black, costume designer Colleen Grady, and sound designer Joseph Simon.
