Lantern Theatre Company will honor actress Ceal Phelan and long-time supporter Gayle Smith at their An Evening in Verona benefit, February 24 at The Down Town Club.

The evening will include entertainment, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert, as well as live music from the Alex Hiele Trio and a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the Lantern’s artistic and education programming.

Phelan has appeared at Lantern Theater Company as Madeleine in The Breath of Life, Maria in Uncle Vanya, and Grace in Vigil, and she directed the Lantern’s 2007 production of The Taming of the Shrew.

Smith is a professor, writer, attorney, and theater advocate. She serves as a trustee of the Charlotte Cushman Foundation, teaches courses on theater and social issues for Temple University’s Master of Liberal Arts program, serves as a Barrymore Awards voter, and is an ambassador to the National New Play Network.
