Lantern Theater Company Announces 2012-2013 Season

Lantern Theater Company has announced the productions scheduled for its 2012-2013 season, which begins in September.

The Lantern opens its 19th season with a remount of David Ives’ New Jerusalem, The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656, directed by Charles McMahon, which will run September 4 – 23. The cast includes Sam Henderson as Baruch de Spinoza and David Bardeen as Rabbi Mortera, with David Blatt, Jake Blouch, Seth Reichgott, Kittson O’Neill, and Mary Tuomanen.

This is followed by the Philadelphia premiere of The Liar, also by Ives, adapted from the French play by Pierre Corneille. The production runs November 1-25, and will be directed by Kathryn MacMillan.

The Lantern completes Martin McDonagh’s Leenane Trilogy with The Beauty Queen of Leenane (January 10 – February 3, 2013). MacMillan will direct.

In the spring, Charles McMahon will direct William Shakespeare’s Henry V (March 14 – April 14). The season concludes with the Philadelphia premiere of Heroes, a comedy by Tom Stoppard, adapted from Gerald Sibleyras’ Le Vent De Peupliers and directed by M. Craig Getting. Heroes will run May 16 – June 9.
