John Douglas Thompson to Reprise Satchmo at the Waldorf at the Wilma

The Wilma Theater will offer a limited engagement of the Long Wharf Theatre production of Terry Teachout’s solo piece Satchmo at the Waldorf, November 16-December 2.

The show, which stars Obie Award winner John Douglas Thompson, is currently at the Long Wharf through November 11. It is directed by Gordon Edelstein.

The piece focuses on jazz legend Louis Armstrong as he sits in his dressing room backstage at the Empire Room of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in March 1971 trying to pull himself together following his celebrated performance.
