Full Cast, Creative Team Set For Arden’s The Piano Lesson

The full cast and creative team have been announced for August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson at the Arden Theatre Company, March 6 – April 6. Walter Dallas will direct.

The Piano Lesson is set in 1936 Pittsburgh where Doaker Charles and his niece, Berniece, have a piano, adorned with ancestral portraits carved by her enslaved great grandfather. Berniece has refused to play a note since her mother’s death.

The cast for this production will feature Katrina Yvette Cooper (Grace), Chioma Dunkley (Maretha), Yvette Ganier (Berniece), Kes Khemnu (Boy Willie), Julian Rozzell, Jr. (Doaker), Harum Ulmer, Jr. (Wining Boy), Yaegel T. Welch (Lymon), and Brian Anthony Wilson (Avery). The creative team will include Jorge Cousineau (sound design), Donald Eastman (set design), Curtis Hodge (lighting design), and Alison Roberts (costume design).
