Civic Theatre of Allentown has announced their 2009-2010 season, which will open with Abe Lincoln in Illinois (October 9-25), Robert E. Sherwood’s chronicle of the life of President Abraham Lincoln from his childhood through his final speech in Illinois before he left for Washington. A Christmas Carol (December 4-19) will receive it’s 20th anniversary production at the Civic Theatre, featuring elements from productions past and new twists, as well as thousands of actors and crew who have brought Dickens’ classic tale to life on the Civic stage.

Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s Little Shop of Horrors (February 19-March 7) will open the new year at the Civic Theatre with a blood-thirsty plant and a rock and roll score. Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Rent (May 7-23) will take the stage with the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side.
