Playwright Christopher Durang will take the stage in his own Tony-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, when it comes to New Hope, Pennsylvania's Bucks County Playhouse this summer. Durang will star as Vanya, the role given a Tony-nominated performance by David Hyde Pierce during its 2013 Broadway run. Durang will perform opposite Marilu Henner (Taxi), who takes on the role of Masha (performed on Broadway by Sigourney Weaver). Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Sheryl Kaller, director of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, which premiered at Bucks County before transferring to Broadway, will helm Durang's Chekhovian send-up. The play follows the sullen Vanya (Durang) and his adopted sister Sonia, as they endure a visit from their movie-star sister Masha (Henner) and her new boy toy, Spike. A prophesy-sprouting cleaning woman and a youthful visitor named Nina throw the visit into even more of a tailspin.

The production will run from July 17-August 10. For tickets and more information, click here.
