The Media Theatre has announced the productions planned for its 2012-2013 season.

The season will open with Hairspray (September 26-November 4), a stage musical adaptation by Mark O’ Donnell and Thomas Meehan of John Waters’ classic film, featuring music by Marc Shaiman. Next, sportscaster Bill Vargus will star in Dr. Dolittle (November 20-January 27), a musical based on Hugh Lofting’s stories of the wacky but kind veterinarian.

Continuing the season will be Forever Plaid (March 6-31), the story of a quartet whose unfortunate accident leaves them unable to perform the concert of their dreams in the 1950’s. Finally, Broadway’s Andrea McArdle will star in Mame (April 17-May 19). A Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee musical featuring one of Jerry Herman’s most popular scores, Mame is set in New York City during the Great Depression.
