The 2012 season of Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will be highlighted by the summer event, “Celebrating Chita!” which will pay tribute to Broadway icon Chita Rivera.

The Lyric will first present musicals in which Rivera gained acclaim, including Bye Bye Birdie (June 26-30), Sweet Charity (July 10-14), and Call Me Madam (July 24-28). The celebration will then culminate with Rivera herself performing in Chita Rivera: My Broadway (August 7-11), an intimate evening of music with the two-time Tony-award winner performing songs from her legendary Broadway career.

Additional selections for Lyric’s 2012 season will include Xanadu (January 25- February 11); Spring Awakening (March 28- April 14); A Year with Frog and Toad (July 13-28); The Mystery of Irma Vep (October 10-27); and Lyric’s A Christmas Carol (November 30- December 29).
