The York Theatre Company, in association with Van Dean and Sister Productions, has announced a production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, coming to the off-Broadway stage this spring. The limited engagement will run from May 24-June 26, with an official June 2 press opening.

Directed by the York's Associate Artistic Director Michael Unger with music direction by Eric Svejcar, the production is based on a concert that was presented at Feinstein's/54 Below by Van Dean of Broadway Records and Jennifer Tepper.

"In that concert, there were kids from Matilda, Evita, Finding Neverland, Newsies — many of whom will be a part of this production," says James Morgan, producing artistic director at the York Theatre Company. "The York Theatre Company, along with our associate producers, is in the process of putting together a cast of young professional children for this exciting new production, which will combine the toy-piano simplicity of the original 1967 off-Broadway version with additions from the 1999 Broadway revival."

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown feature a book, music, and lyrics by Clark Gesner, with additional material by Andrew Lippa. The musical made its Broadway debut in 1971 and received a Tony-nominated revival in 1999, directed by Michael Mayer. Roger Bart (Disaster!) and Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked) both earned Tony Awards for their performances as Snoopy and Sally, respectively. The production also starred Ilana Levine (Lucy), Stanley Wayne Mathis (Schroeder ), Anthony Rapp (Charlie Brown), and B.D. Wong (Linus).

The Feinstein's/54 Below concert starred Milly Shapiro (Matilda) as Sally, Mavis Simpson-Ernst (Evita) as Lucy, Joshua Colley (Les Misérables) as Charlie, Zachary Unger (Big Fish) as Schroeder, Aidan Gemme (Finding Neverland) as Snoopy, and Luca Padovan (School of Rock) as Linus.

The cast and creative team of the York Theatre revival will be announced shortly.
