The York Theatre Company has announced a staged reading of the new musical Monet as part of its Developmental Reading Series. The musical, featuring music and lyrics by Carmel Owen, and book by Joan Ross Sorkin, will play two performances on Friday, March 8, at 2:30pm and 7pm at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's.

Monet, according to a press release, "is inspired by the remarkable life of Claude Monet and the price he ultimately paid for his art. Think mystery, romance and revolution, and one painting that changed everything."

Ken Clark (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Peter Cormican (Follies), George Dvorsky (York's Closer Than Ever), Jeanne Lehman (Beauty and the Beast), Jamie LaVerdiere (The Producers), Maurice Murphy (Motown the Musical), Tom Rhoads (Buttons), Danielle Erin Rhodes (The Marvelous Wonderettes), Alexandra Silber (Fiddler on the Roof), and Price Waldman (A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder) will star in the staged reading.

Alan Paul will direct, with music direction by Eugene Gwozdz. The creative team includes Joe Mohan (associate music director), Lacey Erb (projection designer), Lucrecia Briceno (lighting designer), Carol Sullivan (production stage manager), and Ryan Ross (assistant stage manager).
