The Play That Goes Wrong Will Move to New World Stages Following Broadway Run
The hit comedy will continue in New York City.
Following its final Broadway performance on January 6 at the Lyceum Theatre, The Play That Goes Wrong will move to off-Broadway to New World Stages beginning Monday, February 11. The official opening date for the off-Broadway production, directed by Matt DiCarlo, is February 20. Cast and creative team will be announced at a later date.
Cowritten by Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong is a riotous comedy about the theater. The play introduces the "Cornley University Drama Society," who are attempting to put on a 1920s murder mystery. But as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong…does, as the accident-prone thespians battle on against all odds to get to their final curtain call.
The Play That Goes Wrong began performances at the Lyceum Theatre on March 9, 2017, ahead of an April 2 opening. By its January 6, 2019, closing, the Broadway production will have played 27 previews and 745 performances.
