Producers Darren Bagert and Daryl Roth have announced a partnership between James Lecesne's new play The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey and the Trevor Project, an LGBTQ organization cofounded by Lecensne in 1998. For every full-priced and premium ticket purchased to The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, the production will donate $5 directly to the Trevor Project.

Based on the best-selling novel Absolute Brightness, the show features Emmy-nominated storyteller James Lecesne, who portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town where a young boy goes missing.

The production will have a 12-week off-Broadway engagement at the Westside Theatre, beginning July 11 in advance of a July 27 opening. The run marks its return to the off-Broadway stage, following a sold-out run at Dixon Place. Tony Speciale directs, with incidental music by Duncan Sheik.

The Trevor Project was inspired by Lecesne's Oscar-winning short film Trevor and is the only national 24-hour crisis intervention and suicide prevention Lifeline for LGBTQ youth. Lecesne has created several solo shows including Word of Mouth (presented by Mike Nichols and Elaine May and directed by Eve Ensler) and One Man Band.
