Stacey Sargeant (Our Lady of Kibeho) will join the cast of the Public Theater production of Danai Gurira's Eclipsed beginning Tuesday, November 3. She takes over the role of Helena from Saycon Sengbloh, who will leave the show to appear in an upcoming film. Sargeant originated the role in the Yale Repertory Theatre production of Eclipsed.

Directed by Obie Award winner Liesl Tommy, Eclipsed is a look at the Liberian Civil War from the perspective of the captive wives of a Liberian rebel officer. With the arrival of a new woman who can read, and the return of an old one who can kill, their possibilities are quickly transformed. Sargeant joins a company led by Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, and Zainab Jah.

When Eclipsed ends its off-Broadway run on November 29, it will move to Broadway's John Golden Theatre, beginning previews February 23 and opening March 6. Nyong'o will star in the Broadway mounting, though additional casting is still to be announced.
