Don't Stop Believing! Rock of Ages Announces New York City Return

The musical will come back to the Big Apple beginning June 19.

The five-time Tony Award-nominated musical Rock of Ages will return to New York City to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The musical will begin performances on June 19, for a 16-week limited off-Broadway run at New World Stages, where it premiered in 2008. The run is currently scheduled to end on September 29.

Rock of Ages premiered off-Broadway at New World Stages on October 16, 2008. It opened at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre on April 7, 2009, and later transferred to the the Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24, 2011. It played a total of 22 previews and 2,328 Broadway performances before closing on January 18, 2015.

Written by Chris D'Arienzo, Rock of Ages follows Drew, a young rocker with the dream of receiving his big break, and Sherri, the small-town girl with whom he falls in love while working at a legendary Hollywood rock club facing its imminent destruction. The score comprises hits by Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, and more.

The production is staged by original director Kristin Hanggi and choreography by Kelly Devine, in participation with the original design team.
