Public Theater Announces 2016 Under the Radar Festival

The event brings theater from around the world to New York City.

The Public Theater has announced the lineup for the 12th annual Under the Radar Festival, running from January 6-17, 2016. The festival will comprise works by theater companies from across the United States and countries such as Belgium, Japan, and Rwanda. Mark Russell and Meiyin Wang serve as festival directors.

Highlights include the Obie-winning 600 Highwaymen's Employee of the Year, featuring songs by David Cale; Germinal, a production from Halory Goerger and Antoine Deefort in which four performers create the world from scratch; a music-and-movement-based piece from Rwanda called Samedi Détente; and Tanya Tagaq in Concert With Nanook of the North, a live concert during which Inuit throat singer Tagaq creates a soundscape for the controversial silent film Nanook of the North.

Additionally, Under the Radar will team up with Joe's Pub for a special series that highlights from the multidisciplinary works that populate the famed music venue. Productions include People Doing Math Live! by Andrew Scoville, David Tennent, and Joe Drymala; and Sister Sylvester's They Are Gone but Here Must I Remain.
