Second Stage Theatre has added an additional performance to the run of Anna Deavere Smith's solo play Notes From the Field: Doing Time in Education. The show, running through December 18, will play an extra 1pm matinee on Wednesday, December 14.

Directed by Leonard Foglia with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby, Notes From the Field traces the connections between America's education system and its mass incarceration crisis. In the first act, Smith portrays the students, parents, teachers, and administrators caught in America's school-to-prison pipeline. The second act asks audiences to evaluate their own position in a network of difficult histories and devastating social policies.

The New York premiere follows a run at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University this past summer. The production features scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Leon Rothenberg, and projection design by Elaine J. McCarthy.
