Tony Kushner, Edie Falco, and More to Honor Michael Mayer at Vineyard Gala

Former ”Hedwig” costars Michael C. Hall and Lena Hall will also be in attendance.

The Vineyard Theatre has announced the initial lineup of stars at its 2018 gala fundraiser, which celebrates Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer as well as the company's 35th anniversary. The event will be held on Monday, May 14, at the Edison Ballroom.

Performers and speakers will include Billy Crudup (Harry Clarke), Matt Doyle (Brooklynite), John Gallagher Jr. (Spring Awakening), Edie Falco (Night, Mother), Ira Glass (NPR's This American Life), Michael C. Hall (Lazarus), Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Tony Kushner (Angels in America), Katharine McPhee (Waitress), Jessie Mueller (Carousel), and Sherie Rene Scott (Everyday Rapture). Additional performers will be announced at a later date. The concert will be directed by Dick Scanlan and Lorin Latarro.

Mayer has been a member of the Vineyard family for nearly 25 years, directing half a dozen plays and musicals, including the world premiere of Brooklynite. On Broadway, he has staged Side Man, Spring Awakening, Thoroughly Modern Millie, American Idiot, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He is the director of the upcoming Broadway musical Head Over Heels, which features the songs of the Go-Go's.
