Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that the Stargate Theatre 2018 Sharon Sullivan Company will perform an original piece, Five Hoods, this Wednesday through Friday (August 22-24) at MTC Stage II at New York City Center. Each performance will include a talkback onstage with the performer-writers.

MTC's Stargate Theatre is a project of the company's Education Program, hiring young men who have been involved with the justice system to create and perform an original play. Company members are guided by Stargate's founding artistic director, Emmy Award winner and playwright Judy Tate, and production director Andrew Goldberg.

Five Hoods, according to a press release, "dramatizes a journey through life. Through original scenes, stories, and poetry written and performed by the members of Stargate Theatre's 2018 Sharon Sullivan Company, this new work explores the joys and perils of living and growing in today's world."

Founded in 1989, Manhattan Theatre Club's MTC Education was the first education department created by a major theater company in New York City.
