Liberty, a Monumental New Musical to End Off-Broadway Run

Liberty, a Monumental New Musical will end its run at 42West on July 24, after opening on July 4. The production originally ran at Theatre 80 in 2014, and is expected to resume its 42West run this fall.

Described as a "fast-paced pop-infused 80-minute musical," the show details the story of Lady Liberty’s arrival in America. Abigail Shapiro stars as Liberty, a young French immigrant who arrives in New York Harbor in 1884 while political forces align to deport her. Battling to gain acceptance, she eventually becomes a lasting symbol of the young country.

Adapted from original material by Robert Bruce McIntosh and brother-and-sister team Dana Leslie Goldstein and Jon Goldstein, Liberty is written by Dana Leslie and Jon Goldstein, directed by Evan Pappas, and produced by Theresa Wozunk, Michelle Shapiro, and Tim Harper.

The cast also includes Mark Aldrich, Brandon Andrus, Nick Devito, Ryan Duncan, C. Mingo Long,Vincent McCoy, Keaton Micucci, Tyrone L. Robinson, Emma Rosenthal, and Tina Stafford.
