The young stars of School of Rock took in a performance of off-Broadway's Shear Madness at New World Stages on April 11.

Set in a local hair salon that turns into a wacky murder scene, Shear Madness is a whodunit where the audience gets to solve the crime. The play first opened in Boston (where it still runs) in 1978 and has since been seen in major cities across the United States including Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Philadelphia.

Based on the hit 2003 film, School of Rock tells the story of a down-on-his-luck wannabe rock star named Dewey Finn, who poses as a substitute teacher at a prep school and enlists his fifth-graders to form a rock group and conquer Battle of the Bands. Laurence Connor directs the new musical, featuring a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Glenn Slater and a book by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes. It runs at the Winter Garden Theatre.
