Labyrinth Theater Company has announced an extension for its world-premiere production of Empanada Loca, starring Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega (A Streetcar Named Desire). Performances will now run through November 15 at the Bank Street Theatre, extending one week beyond its original closing date of November 8.

Written and directed by Aaron Mark, Empanada Loca tells the story of Dolores, a drug dealer, ex-con, and masseuse who lives under Manhattan in an abandoned subway tunnel. Inspired by the legend of bloodthirsty Fleet Street barber Sweeney Todd, the work is described as a "thrilling new play about an indomitable woman who knows that in this dog-eat-dog world only one rule matters: eat or be eaten."

Empanada Loca is the second in a trilogy of solo plays written by Mark, the first being Another Medea, which featured Tony nominee Tom Hewitt. The creative team includes David Meyer (sets), Bradley King (lights), and Ryan Rumery (sound).
