The HERE resident artist production of Chang(e), a new work devised by Soomi Kim and directed by Suzi Takahashi, will play a limited run at HERE from November 4-22. The piece marks the culmination of Kim's residency with the artist residency program (HARP).

Chang(e) is described as "a live-staged biographical docudrama that slips between reality and fantasy, plunging viewers inside the mind of Kathy Change." Kathy Change was an activist and performance artist, who, in an act of protest, self-immolated on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania in October 1996. The production offers a theatricalized account of her struggle through a blend of original text, interview and performance transcriptions and Change's own writings, interwoven with dance, video, and original score.

The piece features original music by Adam Rogers (guitar), set design by Bryce Cutler, video by Kevan Loney, costume design by Machine Dazzle, lighting design by Lucrecia Briceno, sound design by Iggy Hung, choreographic consultation by Alexandra Beller, and assistant direction by Leta Tremblay. The company of performers includes Soomi Kim, Criena House, Kiyoko Kashiwagi, David Perez-Ribada, Ben Skalski, Adi Spencer, and Zeke Stewart.
