Casting has been announced for the upcoming Playwrights Horizons production of Julia Cho's new play Aubergine. It will run August 19-October 2 under the direction of Kate Whoriskey.

The cast of Aubergine will include Tim Kang, Sue Jean Kim, Jessica Love, Stephen Park, Michael Potts, and Joseph Steven Yang. The production will feature scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Jennifer Moeller, and lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski.

Aubergine had its world premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, in a production directed by Tony Taccone that also starred Kang and Yang. The play is described as follows: "A man (Kang) shares a bowl of berries, and a young woman (Kim) falls in love. A world away, a mother prepares a bowl of soup to keep her son (Park) from leaving home. And a son (Park) cooks a meal for his dying father (Kang) to say everything that words can’t. In Julia Cho’s poignant and lyrical new play, the making of a perfect meal is an expression more precise than language, and the medium through which life gradually reveals itself."

Additionally, Playwrights Horizons has announced that Kip Fagan will direct Zayd Dohrn's The Profane, which begins performances March 17 for a run through April 30.
