MCC Theater has announced that the official press opening of Beth Henley’s Family Week at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, originally set for April 26, will now be delayed until May 4, at 7pm. Jonathan Demme directs.

The play, currently in previews, focuses on a woman who checks into a recovery center in the desert, searching for a way to cope after the death of her son, and the effects of her family’s visits to her while she is at the center.

The cast features Kathleen Chalfant, Rosemarie DeWitt, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, and Sami Gayle.

In a statement, MCC’s co-artistic director Bernard Telsey remarked, “Jonathan and Beth have been collaborating on Family Week for quite some time now. MCC prides itself on being a laboratory for the development of plays and for artists to explore and experiment with new ideas. We are more than happy to give this production the necessary time for our creative team to continue working on this wonderful play.”
