The group United for Peace is planning to hold a “World Says No To War” rally at 49th Street and First Avenue, within sight of the United Nations, at noon on Saturday, February 15.
The rally will be formed from a number of “feeder” marches starting at various places throughout New York City at 10:30am. Groups including THAW (Theaters Against War) and the Bread and Puppet Theater are encouraging performing arts professionals to join this peaceful protest.
The groups will meet at Columbus Circle (59th Street and Broadway) at 10:30am. Participants are encouraged to wear orange — THAW’s official color. Additionally, the Bread and Puppet performers are seeking volunteers to join their ranks and operate puppets of all sizes, wear masks, play musical instruments, etc. A coordination meeting for the Bread and Puppet protest marchers will be held on Thursday, February 13, at 7pm.
