TheatreWashington Announces theatreWeek Events

theatreWashington, the only organization that supports, promotes, and represents Washington area theatres, artists, and audiences of all ages begins its first annual theatreWeek, beginning today, April 23 and running through Sunday, April 29. More than 30 Washington theatres are scheduled to participate.

Activities will kick off with the as previously reported Helen Hayes Awards and Ovation Gala honoring excellence in Washington theatre and actor Kevin Spacey. The Helen Hayes Awards will take place this evening, Monday April 23 from 8pm to 10pm at the Warner Theatre.

On Wednesday April 23, Washington Professionals and Washington theatre get linked-in at Show Tunes & Cocktails 2.0 from 7pm – 10pm at Napoleon’s Bistro and Lounge in Adams Morgan.

On Thursday, April 26, there will be a conversation entitled Theatre Critics: It’s Only Their Opinion, What They Do and How They Do It, with Washington Post theatre critic Peter Marks and some of his colleagues from 7pm – 8pm at The Helen Hayes Gallery at The National Theatre.

On Friday, April 27 there will be a sneak peek of In Rehearsal, the new book by actor and director, Gary Sloan, from 5pm – 6:30pm at Busboys and Poets, 14th and V Street, NW.
