Signature Theatre Company has announced that it will honor Edward Albee, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of such plays as The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, The Play About the Baby, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Elizabeth Ireland McCann, the producer of Albee’s The Goat and Three Tall Women, in a special ceremony on May 5.
The evening will be co-hosted by Edward Norton, who appeared in Signature’s production of Lanford Wilson’s Burn This earlier this season. It will feature special tributes by stars Sally Field, Mary Tyler Moore, James Van Der Beek, John Lithgow, Betty Comden, Brian Murray, Marian Seldes, and Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, as well as Paula Vogel, Lanford Wilson, Lee Blessing, Mel Gussow, Adrienne Kennedy, and Romulus Linney.
The event will be held at the Essex House (160 Central Park South) on Monday, May 5. It will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30pm, followed by dinner and the presentations at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $300. For more information, contact Lindsey Cole at 212-967-1913, ext. 28.
