Tony Award winner Alan Cumming was honored at Live Out Loud’s 11th annual Young Trailblazers Gala, held at The TimesCenter on Monday, April 30. Tony winner B.D. Wong served as host.
Cumming was presented with the Star Award, given to individuals who have helped Live Out Loud empower LGBT youth. Other honorees included Deutsch / A Lowe & Partners Company, which received the inaugural Corporate Leadership Award, and Bruce T. Sloane, who received the Founders Award. At the gala, five high school seniors in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills within their communities were awarded $5,000 scholarships.
Celebrity guests included Sandra Bernhard, Michael J. Fox, and Lisa Lampanelli.
In conjunction with the gala, Live Out Loud is also hosting an online auction at Charitybuzz.com until May 17, 2012. Among the items are tickets and a meet and greet with 2012 Tony nominee John Lithgow following a performance of Broadway’s The Columnist and tickets and a backstage tour of Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical on Broadway.
