AMAS Musical Theatre Lab celebrated the recent presentation of the musical The Countess of Storyville at The Players Theatre, which was performed October 17 and 18. Michael Bush served as director.
Set in New Orleans’ celebrated red-light district, circa 1910, the musical is an epic story of lust, love, mystery and murder. It features a book by R.M. Cohen, lyrics by Joel Higgins, and music by Martin Silvestri. Jason DeBord will serve as musical director.
The cast starred Nikki Crawford as the beautiful, elegant, multi-racial Countess Willie Dupree, along with Jeremiah James as her love interest, Antonio Maduro Zaragoza; Lillias White as the local midwife, shrink and Voo Doo queen of the community; Allen Fitzpatrick as the malevolent mayor; and John Herrera as a corrupt Alderman.
The ensemble cast included Forrest McClendon, Jamie Laverdiere, Jay Sullivan, Mark Zimmerman, Peter Cormican, Lawrence Clayton, Brittney Lee Hamilton, Leah Edwards, Wendy Fox, Doreen Montalvo, Christy Faber, Christine LaDuca, Soara-Joye Ross, Julian Brightman, Kevin B. McGlinn, Bart Shatto, Dan Debenport, Aaron Bantum and Kyrian Fridenberg.
