Ghostlight Records recorded the cast album of MCC Theater’s production of Carrie on April 17. The show’s composer Michael Gore, along with Joel Moss, serves as producer. A release date for the recording will be announced at a later time.
The show, newly reworked and fully re-imagined for MCC, features music by Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (who also adapted the 1974 novel by Stephen King for the 1976 Brian DePalma film).
Set today, in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie starred Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie as the title character’s evangelical mother, Margaret White, and Molly Ranson as the lonely, vengeful, yet fragile girl at the center of it all.
The cast also included Christy Altomare, Carmen Cusack, Jeanna de Waal, Derek Klena, Ben Thompson, Wayne Wilcox, Corey Boardman, Blair Goldberg, F. Michael Haynie, Andy Mientus, Elly Noble, Jen Sese, Mackenzie Bell, Jake Boyd and Anne Tolpegin.
