The Music-Theatre Group presented
Music-Theatre Jam, a one-time-only happening featuring a treasure-trove of material from their past productions, on Saturday, April 9 at 10 Jay Street in Brooklyn.
Participating artists included Brenda Currin, John DiPinto, Rinde Eckert, Gary Fagin, Lily Green, Laura Innes, Alan Johnson, Gabriel Kahane, Yusef Komunyakaa, Theresa McCarthy, Tshidi Manye, Kenita Miller, Milton Craig Nealy, Reg Rogers, Henry Stram, and Alton Fitzgerald White.
Among the guests at the event was Eve Ensler, who has previously collaborated with
The Music-Theatre Group.
The evening’s program featured scenes from Richard Foreman and Stanley Silverman’s Dr. Selavy’s Magic Theatre and Africanis Instructus, Hotel for Criminals, Harry Kondoleon and Gary Fagin’s Disrobing the Bride, Virgil Thomson and Gertrude Stein’s The Mother of Us All, Diedre Murray and Cornelius Eady’ Fangs, and Julie Taymor and Elliot Goldenthal’s Juan Darien, among others.
