A.C.T. Young Conservatory alumnus and Glee star Darren Criss and Tony Award winner Bill Irwin were among the performers at American Conservatory Theater‘s 2012 season gala, Expect the Unexpected, which was held on April 15 at The Regency Center. The event raised over $760,000 for A.C.T.’s acclaimed actor training and arts education programs.
The event featured an original musical production titled Tales of A.C.T.!, written exclusively for the Gala by A.C.T. Publications Manager Dan Rubin and directed by A.C.T. Associate Artistic Director Mark Rucker. The musical plays off the title of Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City; A.C.T. presented the world premiere musical version of the acclaimed serial last year.
In addition to Criss and Irwin, performers included Tales of the City cast members Patrick Lane and Betsy Wolfe, along students from the A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts Program and Young Conservatory and members of A.C.T.’s Board of Trustees.
