Teatro del Luna’s winter season, entitled The Moon’s Embrace, will run from February 23 through March 17.
El Inmigrante, by writer-performer César Meléndez, tells the story of a Nicaraguan immigrant who arrives in Costa Rica hoping to find a better life. Tender and violent in equal measure, this stunning one-man show is a fascinating exploration into the plight of immigrants everywhere. It will run February 23-25 at Gunston Arts Center – Theater Two.
In addition, Familia en Construcción (Family Under Construction) will make its US Premiere from March 1-3. In a crammed theater, a group of actors improvise a family. No Puedo Vivir sin Mucama (I Can’t Live Without a Maid) also makes its US premiere March 8-10. With humor, actor-playwright-director-scholar Perla Laske takes a sharp look at the issue of domestic help.
Finally, Solo Petru (Petru: All By Himself) makes its US premiere March 15- 17. The delicate thread of a musical revue meets with the aesthetic of a café concert as Petru Valenski pays homage to the most exalted comedic style of his homeland, using songs, poetry and monologues to bring his audience to laughter.
