On May 28, actor George Segal will be presented with the Joseph Papp Achievement Award of Excellence at the Joseph Papp Children’s Humanitarian Fund Gala Dinner, to be held in the ballroom of the Hilton New York Trianon. Television personality Monty Hall will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.
Established in memory of the noted theatrical impresario and founder of the New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater, the Joseph Papp Children’s Humanitarian Fund helps Ukrainian citizens in need by supporting orphanages, a food pantry, and an eye care clinic in the Ukraine.
Segal is well known for his television and film work, including the TV series Just Shoot Me and the film version of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? He has also appeared on Broadway in Art, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Rattle of a Simple Man, and Gideon.
Mindy and Larry Spiewak will also be guests of honor at the gala and will receive the Joseph Papp Humanitarian Award for their work with humanitarian causes, especially those benefiting children. The black-tie-optional event will be held at the Hilton New York (1335 Avenue of the Americas) on Wednesday, May 28, beginning at 6pm. Tickets are available at $500 by calling 718-467-6630, ext. 212 or through the website www.pappfund.com.
