Musical Theatre West of Long Beach, California has announced the schedule for its 2003-2004 season, the theater’s 51st.
The season will kick off with La Cage aux Folles, the Tony Award-winning 1983 musical by Jerry Herman based on the popular French film, running November 1-16, 2003. It will be followed by The Hot Mikado, the 1939 update of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, February 21-March 7, 2004; an encore presentation of Sally Struthers in Always… Patsy Cline, April 24-May 9; and a new production of Cole Porter’s Shakespearean musical comedy classic Kiss Me, Kate, July 10-July 25. All performances will be held at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, 6200 Atherton Street, in Long Beach.
In addition, the company will offer a Summer Youth Conservatory production of the “school edition” of the hit Boublil-Schönberg musical Les Misérables at Recreation Park in Long Beach, August 22-24, 2003, and two performances of the perennial favorite A Holiday Celebration on December 13, 2003.
Season subscriptions range from $82 to $164, and individual tickets range from $20 to $45; special events are priced separately.
