Winners have been announced for The Midtown International Theatre Festival’s 2011 awards, which were presented in a ceremony on Friday, September 9.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead won the most awards, winning for Outstanding Production of a Play, director Glenn De Kler, choreographer Chie Morita, lead actress Allison Hirschlag, supporting actress Whitney Kimball Long, and for the production’s ensemble.
Additional acting awards were given to Markus Potter (Lavender Shore), Gus Curry (Ocean in a Teacup), Ashley Wren Collins (Mother Eve’s Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood), Steve Aron (Apartment Haunting), Nandita Chandra (i-Pod), and Colin Pritchard (Lavender Shore).
Outstanding Production of a Musical was awarded to Peg O’ My Heart. Outstanding Production of a Solo Show or Special Event was given to Georgia and Me.
Steven Gold’s Women and Guns won the award for Outstanding New Script, while Andrew Barbato and Lesley de Santis won for their music and lyrics to Alice: A New Musical.
Outstanding Production of a Short Subject went to Broken Wing, while Outstanding Direction of a Short Subject went to Ben Prusiner for Prescriptions. Outstanding Reading was given to Utility Monster.
Design winners included Andrew Barbato’s set for Alice: A New Musical, Megan Hill’s costumes for Mother Eve’s Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood, Erica Ruff’s lighting for Alice: A New Musical, and John R. Brennan sound for The Banana Monologues.
