The Old Globe has announced plans for its 2012-2013 season.

The season will open with the previously reported Lea Salonga, George Takei, and Telly Leung starring in the world premiere of Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione’s Allegiance – A New American Musical (September 7-October 21), a story of family, love, and patriotism set during the Japanese-American internment of World War II. Stafford Arima will direct.

Next, Paul Mullins will direct David Lindsay-Abaire’s exploration of the accessibility of the American Dream Good People (September 29-October 28). For the holiday season, The Old Globe will present Timothy Mason and Mel Marvin’s Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (November 17-December 29), directed by James Vasquez.

The new year will begin with Nicholas Martin directing George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion (January 12-February 17) for the 100th anniversary of its premiere. Then, Tea Alagic will direct Tarell Alvin McCraney’s The Brothers Size (January 26-February 24), which blends West African mythology with a modern-day story of two brothers reuniting on the Louisiana bayou.

The second world premiere of the season will be Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak’s A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (March 8-April 14), a music hall comedy that explores how low we’ll go to make it to the top based on the book by Israel Rank by Roy Horniman and directed by Darko Tresnjak.

In the spring, Kirsten Brandt will direct Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Brandt’s adaptation of the Ibsen classic A Doll’s House (March 23-April 21). Richard Seer will direct Jon Robin Baitz’s play about long-buried secrets Other Desert Cities (April 27-June 2). The season will come to a close with Be a Good Little Widow by Bekah Brunstetter, a play about a young wife who must reevaluate her life with the help of her mother-in-law.

In addition to the main season, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program will present Measure for Measure (November 10-18), directed by Ray Chambers.

During the summer, Adrian Noble will serve as artistic director for the annual Shakespeare Festival, which will include productions of As You Like It (June 10-September 30) and Inherit the Wind (June 17-September 25), directed by Noble; Richard III (June 3-September 29) directed by Lindsay Posner; Divine Rivalry (July 7-August 5) by Michael Kramer with D.S. Moynihan directed by Michael Wilson; and God of Carnage (July 27-September 2) directed by Richard Seer.
