The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has announced the lineup of companies that will be participating in the 12th New Visions/New Voices festival, May 18-20. This biennial event is dedicated to developing new plays and musicals written for young people and their families.
Programming will include The Lonely Boy’s Guide to Survival (And Werewolves) which is a collaboration between the La Jolla Playhouse, Chicago’s Emerald City Theatre and the Adventure Theatre in Maryland, and a new stage version of the tale The Snow Queen, being developed by HERE Arts Center.
Other pieces that will be presented in the series are The Boy at the Edge of Everything (Trusty Sidekick Theater Company, New York, NY), Cautionary Tales for Children (Arena Theatre Company, Melbourne, Australia), Minotaur (Polka Theatre, London, England and Young People’s Theatre, Toronto, Canada), Only a Day, created by German artist Martin Baltsheit, Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach (Collaboration between iTheatrics and Work Light Productions), and The Transition of Doodle Pequeño (People’s Light and Theatre, Malvern, PA).
