Ian Judge will direct the London premiere of Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley’s The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd, to run June 7 – July 2 at the Finborough Theatre. Tim Goodchild will design the production, which will have lighting by Mark Doubleday.

The allegorical satire about the British class system centers on the follies of the irrepressible Cocky and the imperious Sir as they play the comical “Game of Life.” The score contains such standards as “A Wonderful Day Like Today,” “The Joker,” “Who Can I Turn To?,” “The Beautiful Land,” and “Feeling Good.”

Judge’s credits include The Wizard of Oz, The Comedy Of Errors, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Twelfth Night, A Christmas Carol, The Relapse, Troilus And Cressida, and The Merry Wives Of Windsor for the Royal Shakespeare Company. In addition, his work has been seen at The Old Vic, the Shaw Festival in Canada, the Sydney Theatre Company, Chichester Festival Theatre and the Bloomsbury Theatre, among others.
