Diversionary Theatre has announced plans for its 2012-2013 season.
To open the season, Diversionary will present the world premiere of Bill Nelson and Anna K. Jacobs’ musical about a gay farmer in a rural community Harmony, Kansas (June 14-July 22), directed by James Vasquez with orchestrations and musical direction by Adam Wachter. The cast will feature Jacob Caltrider, Dylan Hoffinger, Tony Houck, Anthony Methvin, Bill Nolte, John Whitley, and Tom Zohar.
Next, James Vasquez will direct Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson’s Pippin (September 6 -October 14), the story of a young prince who longs for true happiness and fulfillment. The West Coast premiere of Harrison David Rivers’ look at life in small town America from a contemporary teenage perspective When Last We Flew (November 8-December 9) will be directed by Collette Roberts.
In the new year, James Vasquez will direct Marc Acito’s Birds of a Feather (January 31-March 3), a smart comedy about two bird families. To bring the season to a close, Diversionary will present The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler (March 21-April 4) by Jeff Whitty. Directed by Matt McGrath, the play begins immediately after Henrik Ibsen’s classic ends.
