The Centenary Stage Company has announced plans for its 2012-2013 season.
The season will open with a 60th anniversary production of Agatha Christie’s murder mystery The Mousetrap (October 5-21), directed by Carl Wallnau. The Black Box Festival will include three productions including Frank and Malachy McCourt’s two-character comedy A Couple of Blaguards (November 1-4), physical comedy ensemble Parallel Exit’s Room 17B (November 8-11), and Bill Bower’s critically acclaimed collection of silent stories Under a Montana Moon (November 15-18).
As the holiday season begins, Centenary Stage Company will present The Wizard of Oz (November 23-December 9), the beloved musical based on the L. Frank Baum book. Michael Blevins will direct. To kick off the new year, Martin McDonagh’s comedy-drama about an unloved crippled boy The Cripple of Inishmaan will be presented February 22-March 10. Next up will be the rolling world premiere of New Jersey playwright Lucile Lichtblau’s The English Brid (April 5-21), a mystery involving a young Englishwoman and the Arab man she loves.
In addition, the season will inaugurate the Great Authors Out Loud Series, which will include staged readings of the plays Tartuffe, An Enemy of the People,The Proposal, The Bear, Swan Song, and The Merchant of Venice. Each stage reading will be directed by stage and screen actor Randall Duk Kim. The series runs September 16-May 5.
