Allen Becker, Michael Jenkins, Barb Preuss, et al. Win Broadway League Awards

The winners of the 2011 Broadway League Awards have been announced. These honors recognize the contributions of those who have displayed exemplary service to the Broadway industry and are considered innovators of their craft. The awards were presented during the League’s 2011 Spring Road Conference in a ceremony hosted by George Hamilton.

Allen Becker, founder of Pace Entertainment Group, has received the Distinguished Lifetime Service Award while the Outstanding Achievement in Presenter Management, also known as the Samuel J. L’Hommedieu Award, has been given to Michael Jenkins of Dallas Summer Musicals for demonstrating excellence in management.

The George MacPherson Road Award has been presented to Tzell Travel Group, and the Outstanding Achievement in Road Marketing Award has gone to Barb Preuss of the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines for her dedication to the Willis Broadway Series.

Additionally, the winners of the Star of Touring Broadway Awards, which honor board members, politicians, donors and volunteers who have given support to promote and enrich the Broadway Series in their hometowns, have been received by Bank of Oklahoma, for its support of Broadway in Oklahoma; John Gottschalk, for his work as chairman of Omaha Performing Arts Society; Mike Martella, for his advocacy and philanthropic activities in Sarasota, FL; Jan and Lee Morevistka, for their volunteer work at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, MO; and Bill and Susan Ahearn, donors to and volunteers at ASU Gammage in Tempe, AZ.
