Akin Babatunde, Daniel Beaty, Kenita Miller, and More Win 2010 Audelco Awards
The Billie Holiday Theatre's production of What Would Jesus Do? led with seven awards, for Dramatic Production of the Year; playwright Yvette Heyliger; actors Jerome Preston Bates, Yvonne Farrow, Johnnie Mae, and Jamil A.C. Mangan; and set designer Patrice Davidson.
Another big winner was Urban Stages' production of Langston in Harlem, which received four awards, for Musical Production of the Year, choreographer Byron Easley, and performers Kenita Miller and Glenn Turner.
Daniel Beaty won the award for solo performance for Through the Night, while Akin Babatunde won for his direction of Blind Lemon Blues. The cast of August Wilson's Women received the Outstanding Ensemble Performance Award.
Take Wing and Soar's production of Pecong won Best Revival, as well as awards for James Carter's lighting design and David Withrow's costume Design. An award was also given to David D. Wright for his sound design of Oshun.
