Harold Prince and Susan Stroman to Co-Direct Paradise Found

Harold Prince and Susan Stroman are set to co-direct a production of Paradise Found, which will appear at the Menier Chocolate Factory next spring before transferring to Broadway, according to Variety.

The show, which is based on Joseph Roth’s novel, The Tale of the 1002nd Night will have a book by Richard Nelson; while Ellen Fitzhugh has provided lyrics to music by Johann Strauss II, as adapted by Jonathan Tunick. The plot enters on an impotent Shah, whose eunuch convinces him to travel to Vienna, where the Shah falls in love with the empress of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The paper reports that John Cullum, Mandy Patinkin, Shuler Hensley, Judy Kaye, and Emily Skinner are all expected to take lead roles.
