Cherry Jones, Olympia Dukakis, Brian Bedford Set for Roundabout Theatre Season

The Roundabout Theatre has announced two additional shows for its 2010-2011 season.

Two-time Tony Award winner and Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones will star in George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Professsion, in a production to be directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes, beginning on September 3 at the American Airlines Theatre. Jones will play Kitty Warren, a mother who makes a terrible sacrifice in order to secure her daughter Vivie’s independence.

Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis will headline Michael Wilson’s production of Tennessee Williams’ drama The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore, starting previews at the Laura Pels Theatre on January 7. The dream-like work concerns a dying American widow who is visited by a handsome and mysterious young man.

As previously announced, the season will also include Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, to be directed by Brian Bedford, who will play Lady Bracknell (American Airlines Theatre, beginning December 20); Julia Cho’s award-winning The Language Archive, to be directed by Mark Brokaw (Laura Pels Theatre, beginning September 24); and Kimberly Rosenstock’s Tigers Be Still, to be directed by Sam Gold (Roundabout Underground Black Box, beginning September 10).

The remainder of the season, as well as additional casting and creative teams for these productions, will be announced at a later date.
