Alan Arkin, Billy Crudup, Greg Kinnear to Star in The Convincer Movie

Tony Award winners Alan Arkin and Billy Crudup, along with Greg Kinnear, will star in the crime drama movie, The Convincer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jill Sprecher will direct the film, which uses a screen play she’s co-written with Karen Sprecher.

Convincer focuses on a desperate insurance salesman who gets his hands on a rare violin. Filming will begin on Monday in Minnesota.

Arkin received a Tony Award for his performance in the play Enter Laughing and was Tony nominated for his turn in Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys. He won an Academy Award for his work in Little Miss Sunshine, in which he co-starred with Kinnear. Arkin’s other film credits include his Oscar-nominated performances in The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming and The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.

Crudup received a Tony Award for his work in Tom Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia. Among his other Broadway credits are his Tony-nominated performances in The Pillowman and The Elephant Man, as well as The Three Sisters and Arcadia. On screen, he was recently seen in Watchmen and will appear opposite Julia Roberts later this year in Eat, Pray, Love. Other screen credits include Almost Famous, Waking the Dead, and The Good Shepherd.

Among Kinnear’s many film credits beyond Sunshine include As Good As It Gets, Nurse Betty, and We Were Soldiers.
